From 1965 to 1999, Art spearheaded the Cracking Reactor Design Group at Exxon, where he co-developed over 90% of Exxon’s Cracking Reactor technology. These designs that have revolutionized ethylene production, which is a crucial component in the manufacture of plastics.

In addition, he helped develop the Low NOx Flue Gas Recirculation burner, which is designed to meet stringent EPA requirements, as well as a device that enables the cracking of heavy garbage feeds, which has been an asset to Exxon’s operations. Many of these innovations remain closely guarded as Exxon trade secrets, underscoring their invaluable impact.
